SURGE is a poster/ brochure for a surfing cinema film festival designed with two colors and a custom collage art piece using 1990s surfing magazines.
Pink and yellow are two colors that pop and instantly catch the viewers attention. Along with the energetic collage, these colors paired well and reminisced on the surfer style from the 1980s and 1990s.
The poster was then formatted as a 12 page brochure. The result was multiple moments of huge type, explosions of energy and color.
The custom collage was created with pages from 1990s surfing magazines.
I cut the pages into vertical strips, offset them, and mixed them up in order to get visuals of movement and energy all throughout the collage
The Designer’s Note
Probably one of my favorite projects thus far. Combining my love for analogue methods and surfing was so fun. I recall listening to music and bobbing my head while designing the collage and laying my typography out.
