Gesture Fields is a 368-page experimental publication exploring improvisational movement, photography, and human expression. After returning from Berlin, I became interested in understanding why I was drawn to movement and what it could reveal about myself and the world around me.

Drawing from selected readings, I translated written ideas into storyboards and used them as starting points for photographic and video explorations with collaborators. Across five chapters, the book moves through the beach, woods, open green spaces, the city, and the studio, exploring the evolving relationship between the individual, their body, and their surroundings.
Chapter 1: “Phenomenology and Life World”

The ocean: where all things are born.

Text by: Sondra Fraleigh
Chapter 2: “Thinking in Movement”

The woods: where one can be alone.

Text by Maxine Sheets-Johnstone
Embracing spontaneity over choreography, I developed an intuitive visual language through layered photography, collage, and handwritten pull quotes. The result celebrates human idiosyncrasies, imperfection, and the freedom to express oneself instinctively.
