Surfboard wax is literally the bread and butter of being able to ride a wave. Without it, surfers would be slipping and sliding all over the place.
. I believe that surfboard wax packaging should get the design it deserves. Introducing BIFF surfboard wax. Included in this product line: a tube that dispenses wax, a wax refill, and a wax comb. .

. 02.1 THE WAX TUBEA revolutionary surfing product: surfboard wax that comes in a reusable tube which prevents it from getting covered in sand and ruined, if it melts it retains its cylindrical shape, and it fits the shape of the hand which makes it easy to use. .

02.2 THE FRISKER AND THE REFILL
You can use a wax comb to scrape off old wax or to roughen up wax on your board to give it more grip. I named it The Frisker which means to pass your hands over something or someone (basically to feel someone up). And that’s what you do when you use your wax comb on your board, you feel it up. The refill is an eco-friendly way of using surfboard wax—once the wax in the tube is finished, you pull out a refill and stick that baby in the tube. Thus saving money and wasting less. .The refill is an eco-friendly way of using surfboard wax—saving money and wasting less.
. .What started off as a boring rectangular box turned into the idea of adding a surfboard to front panel. For those that don’t know, a surfboard has a leash which is attached to a surfer’s leg. So I went ahead and added a leash to this surfboard. This leash has a magnet on the end of it which holds the front panel door closed. I went through a total of 10 different designs and finally landed on this final box. .

02.3 PROCESS
A series of ups and downs and many learning curves. Here I show some of my process while building the wax packaging. I utilized a lot of analogue methods including collage, hot glue, cutting PCV (for the wax tube), melting wax in order to make a faux wax cylinder, dipping the wax tube in Plasti-Dip, just to name a few. . . . . . .
Designer’s Note
As an avid surfer, this project meant everything to me. From learning more about the ocean, surf culture throughout the years, and what I thought surfboard wax should be. BiFF is my child and I will always treasure this project.
